Record-setting running back George Jones and wide receiver Marcus Harris headed a list of 13 Western Athletic Conference players chosen Sunday on the second day of the NFL draft.
Jones, who rushed for a WAC-record 1,842 yards for San Diego State in 1995, was drafted in the fifth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers.Harris, who caught 258 passes for 4,504 yards his last three seasons for Wyoming, was taken late in the seventh round by Detroit.
In all, 15 WAC players were chosen over the two days of the draft. San Diego State led the way with four selections and Wyoming had three.
TCU center Ryan Tucker was the first WAC player taken on Sunday, going to St. Louis in the fourth round.
In the fifth round, Indianapolis claimed SDSU wide receiver Nate Jacquet, and Philadelphia took Rice defensive end Ndukwe Kalu.
Colorado State running back Calvin Branch went to Oakland in the sixth round, followed by Brigham Young tight end Itula Mili to Seattle, Air Force center Dan Palmer to San Diego, Tulsa linebacker Muadianvita Kazadi to St. Louis, Wyoming defensive back Lee Vaughn to Dallas and SDSU defensive back Ricky Parker to Chicago.
